As a sport, kayak fishing has seen rapid growth in popularity over the last few years. For those of us lucky enough to reside in Northland, we are able to take full advantage of our regions beautiful and productive coastline. There are few areas in New Zealand that have access to the quality fishery that Northlands coast provides and this combined with a temperate climate, means that excellent year round fishing is available to all those that want to get out and take advantage of it. In the 6 years I have been in Northland, I have landed some great fish, seen some spectacular places and have had some memorable experiences. I have paddled with Dolphins and Orcas, seen Humpback whales cruise by and importantly, made some great friends. The Northland Kayak Fishing Clubs goal is to be regarded amongst the premier Kayak fishing clubs. We realise and understand that the way to achieving this goal, is to engage all of our members in their club. At our monthly meetings, we endeavor to provide a variety of speakers and presentations, so that ideas and knowledge can be shared, and hopefully add to your experience on the water. Monthly club trips to a range of locations in Northland provide opportunities for both the novice and experienced. Our members families are welcome on these expeditions and invited to be involved on these trips. |

Our members will be available to help support entrants from outside the area and especially the overseas visitors. We are looking forward to our involvement in this exciting event. So if you want to challenge yourself to landing a personal best Snapper, or a trophy Kingfish, or just to bring home fresh fillets for the family table, you are welcome to come along to a club meeting to find out more. Club meetings are held at 7.00pm on the second Wednesday of each month, in the conference rooms of the Grand Hotel, 2 Bank Street, Whangarei. Tight lines and I look forward to seeing you on the water.
